Class Project 2010

Leadership St. Pete Class Project Concept

Each class of Leadership St. Pete (LSP), a program of the St. Petersburg Chamber Foundation, is responsible for attempting to make a difference in our community by working with a local nonprofit organization to further its goals in St. Petersburg.  The Class Project generally takes the form of a physical facility improvement for the beneficiary organization.

The Class Project is intended to be a team building activity among class members and as such, it must involve the entire class and provide opportunities for all to contribute to its success.  The Class Project involves planning and fund-raising activities, and always culminates on Class Project Day, a single day on which the entire class gathers to complete the work.

Since 2004, the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay has provided seed money through its Philanthropy in Action program to assist LSP in achieving its goals; all other fund-raising is the responsibility of the class.

Class Project Selection Process

The Class of 2010 will have the opportunity to choose one of three possible Class Projects.  After an off-season selection process in which numerous local non-profit organizations proposed potential projects to the LSP Planning Committee, three of these were short-listed as best fitting the Class Project concept.  Those three will present their proposals to the Class at the Opening Retreat, and the Class will vote to select one. For more information on the short-list selection process, Class members should review the Class Project Request for Proposals, a copy of which is enclosed.

Following is a brief description of each organization, their proposed project, the project location, contact information, and time(s) when the facilities will be available for inspection between Orientation Dinner and Opening Retreat.  Class members are encouraged to try to visit all three before the Opening Retreat, if possible.
